Help Us Close the Gap
In 2014, Cat Town opened America’s first cat cafe to give the Oakland city shelter’s most at-risk cats a better chance at adoption. Since then, the shelter’s intake for cats has risen 51%, spreading their limited resources even thinner for their highest-need cats. This year, we’re stepping up our support again to meet the growing demand for our services.

Volunteer Spotlight: Case Managers
Case Managers are volunteers who have significant experience with undersocialized cats, and are adept at offering both practical advice and emotional support to a cat guardian when they need it most. Program Manager Dilara and volunteer Gina B oversee this program together, ensuring that the cats and adopters who need an extra helping hand can receive guidance during the first few weeks or months with their new cat — a transition period that can sometimes be quite stressful.

Meet Cat Town's Adoption Coordinator
Get ready to meet Cat Town’s very first Adoption Coordinator, Genevieve Cottraux! Genevieve has volunteered and worked in animal welfare since 2009, at organizations like the East Bay SPCA, Cat Town, and Tony La Russa’s Animal Rescue Foundation (ARF). Her previous jobs have ranged from managing the art collection at the Berkeley Art Museum and Pacific Film Archive to Adoption Specialist at ARF…

March 2022 Adoptions
The days are getting longer and warmer, and as we welcome spring with open arms, we also celebrate plenty of adoptions! In March, 25 cats with nowhere to go but Cat Town found great homes — including seniors, scared kittens, sick cats, and more.

February 2022 Adoptions
With 29 adoptions under our belt in February, we’re excited to tell you about a few of the wonderful cats that you helped. We had 7 bonded pairs find dreamy homes together, 11 Forgotten Kittens who discovered their courage, 6 senior cats who swept their adopters off their feet, and 12 cats who needed medical care and found happy homes upon recovery.
Meet Cat Town's Program Manager
Dilara Göksel Parry has been an integral player in Cat Town’s work over the years — first as a consultant, and more recently as our part-time Cat Care Coordinator. Now as our first ever Program Manager, Dilara oversees all the work we do for cats in need of support — both at our Adoption Center and in our foster network.
