Join Us! Adoption Center Grand Opening Sunday 10/1

It's been months in the making, but the time has finally come for us to hold the grand opening of our expanded adoption center here at Cat Town!

Thanks to Maddie's Fund and Pet Food Express, we're giving even more of Oakland's vulnerable shelter cats the opportunity to find their families. Cats are ofter stressed by the shelter which can make it difficult, if not impossible, for them to find adopters. With our Adoption Center Studios, cats who have dietary restrictions, health issues, a preference for being an only cat, or any number of other things, can meet their future families in a safe and comfortable space.

OAKLAND, Calif. — Goodbye is the goal.

That's the mantra in animal welfare work. And that's what I've had to tell myself all summer as tabbies, torties, mini-panthers, gingers and so many other balls of fur landed at Cat Town as part of our Forgotten Kitten Project

For those unfamiliar, ringworm is the common name given to a fungal infection of the superficial layers of the skin, hair, and nails. We liken it having athlete's foot - with some easy precautionary measures, it's really very easy to care for a ringworm cat.

CATCHING UP WITH CAT TOWN ALUM: ROWAN & REED

Rowan and Reed came to Cat Town in the fall of 2016 from Oakland Animal Services. The pair spent time at home with two of our wonderful fosters, building confidence and learning people can be friendly, fun, and best of all—a source for delicious treats! Eventually they made their way to our Adoption Center, where they continued to grow more confident. Then one day this past July, it happened: they found their person in Emily B. and were adopted!

Another month of exciting adoptions to report! During our Black Cat Adoption Special we sent Mia, Mr. Adorable, and Mimosa home with their families. We also saw long term Cat Zone favorite, Daisy Mae, find her people, and senior cat Woolsey go from fostered to adopted.

If adopting a cat is in your plans for September, be sure to check out our current adoptable cats and email info@cattownoakland.org to inquire.
