April 2021 Adoptions

Last month we helped 30 “hard-to-place” cats get adopted, thanks to support from our community of volunteers, donors, fosters, and more. We’re especially thrilled to celebrate the adoptions of two bonded pairs and long-time foster cats Tiger and Fawn, and Levi and Phoebe. Still other cats, like Hampton and Nettle, got snapped up immediately after being at our Adoption Center for less than a week. Regardless of how long it took these cats to find their special human, we’re so grateful they did. Thank you to everyone who helped us get them home!

Orphey was found as a stray with skin issues. At ten years old, we knew a shelter cage was not the best place for this sweet, gentle cat to recover. We got her into our foster program, diagnosed her with a flea allergy and a urinary tract infection, and helped her get back into good health. Her adopters report she’s doing great in her new home. “She's been rolling on her back to let us pet her belly, and [our teenage son] has been hugging her with her purring!”

Of the two, Polo was the more confident, so we were delighted when their adopter told us, “I didn’t expect Marco to be so… mushy!” We love that the shyer cat in this bonded pair has learned to show his sweet side, too.

Sneakers was surrendered to the city shelter after her guardian was moved into assisted living. At the shelter, this young calico reacted to her cage with lots of frustration, so we got her into foster care to help her de-stress, and not long after, she got adopted! Sneakers is getting braver by the day and letting her sassy personality shine! Her adopter says, “she likes hanging out while I work, and has made several zoom meeting appearances. She's also quite the snuggler.”

Jules came to our Adoption Center to be a role model for our shy cats after living life as a stray. She excelled at demonstrating confidence, which helped our shyer cats feel safe as they settled into the Adoption Center, and now she is adjusting to life as a house cat with gusto.

Thebe and Elara were trapped by another rescue as older kittens. Although they were darty and scared at the city shelter, they would make biscuits for the persistent volunteers there, so we got them to Cat Town to give them a less stressful environment and help them continue their progress. Their adopters are being patient with them, and report that the girls are making wonderful progress, and showing their trust in new ways each week.
