Meredith needs your help

Kitten season is here, which means shelter cages are filling up with youngsters. This is a time when many sick, stressed, and scared adult cats get passed over in favor of helping younger, healthier, more confident cats find homes. We don’t want them to get left behind, but we can’t help them alone.

Kitten season is here, which means shelter cages are filling up with youngsters. This is a time when many sick, stressed, and scared adult cats get passed over in favor of helping younger, healthier, more confident cats find homes. We don’t want them to get left behind, but we can’t help them alone. Will you become a new monthly donor today to help more shelter cats like Meredith?

Now through May 31, new monthly donors will have their first TEN monthly contributions matched, up to $10,000 total, so we can help as many at-risk cats as possible.

Meredith was left at the shelter by a guardian who couldn’t keep her. This gentle girl is used to being well-loved, and the unfamiliar sounds and smells of the shelter had her stressed, flinching at every new sound and movement. But, with patience and a gentle approach, she became pettable, and now even nudges volunteers with her little nose. We think a calm environment will help her transform into a sweet friend.

We rely on monthly donors to get us through the challenging months of summer, when more cats than ever are at the shelter — each of them competing for limited resources from the rescue community. Your monthly support can ensure we have everything ready — from medicine and enrichment, to bedding and carriers — to help cats like Meredith have a soft landing. Getting these at-risk cats out of their shelter cages not only allows them to de-stress, it makes more space to buy other at-risk cats time.

You can help Meredith right now — and when you become a monthly donor, your gift will be matched 10 times to support even more cats like her!

P.S. As thanks for being a monthly contributor, you’ll receive exclusive access to our cat cams and monthly stories about the cats you helped save. Plus, with a monthly gift of $100 or more, you’ll also get the opportunity to name one of our rescue cats!

Help Us Close the Gap

In 2014, Cat Town opened America’s first cat cafe to give the Oakland city shelter’s most at-risk cats a better chance at adoption. Since then, the shelter’s intake for cats has risen 51%, spreading their limited resources even thinner for their highest-need cats. This year, we’re stepping up our support again to meet the growing demand for our services.

Since then, the shelter’s intake for cats has risen 51%, spreading their limited resources even thinner for their highest-need cats. This year, we’re stepping up our support again to meet the growing demand for our services.

We’ve streamlined our team with new, specialized roles to help more shelter cats, more quickly. Now, we need reliable monthly revenue to help pay for medicine, enrichment, and other vital supplies on demand, so that once a cat arrives at Cat Town, we can give them the care they need to thrive and find a home. That’s where monthly donors can help!

A generous Cat Town supporter is offering to match the first TEN months of contributions made by all new monthly donors, up to $10,000 total — but this incredible opportunity to multiply your investment ends May 31.

If 40 new donors give $25 per month, we can secure the entire challenge match. Will you become a new monthly donor today?

Monthly donors receive special benefits, including:

  • Exclusive access to our Adoption Center cat cams,

  • Monthly stories about the cats you helped save,

  • Naming a rescue cat (with a monthly gift of $100 or more),

… and of course, the warm fuzzy feeling of knowing you’ve helped us save even more lives.

Cat Town means community, and looking out for cats with nowhere else to turn. Last year, we took in nearly one third of all cats transferred from Oakland Animal Services. This year, your monthly donations can help us raise the bar.

We hope you’ll become a monthly donor today!
