A Pep Talk for Poppy

Remember the time Andrew was teaching a cat to high five, and you interrupted the lesson to lay your head in his hand? I knew then and there that you were nothing but sweetness.
— Quinn White, Development Director

Dear little Poppy, you’ve truly blossomed at Cat Town, and you’re ready for a home. I’m so proud of you!

You’ve come so far from your first days here, when we discovered you had been hiding your injured tail at the shelter. It was bitten in three places, infected, and caused you so much pain that all you could feel was fear. But Marie took you to the vet and got you all fixed up. Your tail healed, and now it’s a badge that honors everything you overcame. You are so strong!

Your curly tail is as charming as can be! And with your one white whisker and inquisitive eyes, you stand out in a room full of black cats.

Your curly tail is as charming as can be! And with your one white whisker and inquisitive eyes, you stand out in a room full of black cats.

Without the pain you had to live with for so long, you’ve let down your walls, and learned to oh-so-carefully ask for affection. Remember the time Andrew was teaching a cat to high five, and you interrupted the lesson to lay your head in his hand? I knew then and there that you were nothing but sweetness. I love how you watch everyone quietly do their chores and gently head bonk our outstretched hands. You don’t care about treats — you just want to listen to the other cats chatter nearby so you can feel included.

So Poppy: even though you’re an introvert, and prefer a calm and quiet afternoon with your cat friends to lots of boisterous energy, it’s your turn to stand in the spotlight. This is your time to get adopted by showing off your darling, gentle nature — I know you can do it!
