November 2022 Adoptions

Cooler weather may be here, but November kept us cozy with heart-warming adoptions. Some of these cats spent only a few hours in our care, while others took more than a year of perseverance to find their perfect match. No matter how long they need, the magic of Cat Town means our cats get the gift of time while they wait for their home sweet homes.

The cats who got adopted in November have a lot to be thankful for, because they had your help all along the way. Your support got 4 cats into good health, relieved 7 cats of their cage stress, gave 6 kittens families to grow up with, supported 3 seniors, and more. Not only did you provide treats, toys, and warm beds so they could feel safe — best of all, you helped them find loving homes, just in time for the holidays.

Today, we’re grateful to be able to share their stories with you.

Sweet but shy Ariana spent more than a year with us, finding her footing. She had been conflicted in her shelter cage — hissy and flat-eared on approach, but eager to lean into pets for anyone brave enough to try. In her foster home, we determined that she was suffering from food allergies and painful teeth, and needed all but her canines extracted. After a couple months of patient work, her foster reported, “She loves getting affection, and is purring, headbutting, making air biscuits, and spending time out from under the couch.” Ariana’s adopter is being extra patient, too, sitting with her on the floor and letting her adjust at her own pace — a perfect match for this sensitive little girl!

Nine-year-old Monkey has kidney disease and Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV). She came to the city shelter as a guardian surrender, and was stressed in her cage — pacing, growling, and hissing at other cats. We got her a senior wellness exam, and then into a foster home, where her foster told us Monkey was immediately “super affectionate and rolling around on the floor.” We put her on a special diet to keep her kidney disease under control, and when this sweet old gal got adopted, her guardian told us, “Thank you for helping me find her.”

Broomstick, Bumble Bee, Hershey, and Ghost were taken in by a local rescue, underweight and in need of love — which their foster gave them in spades, while nursing them into good health. When they were ready to find a home, we took them into our Adoption Center to help them get more attention. It worked like a charm — Broomstick and Bumblebee were adopted in less than 2 hours, and Hershey and Ghost after a day!

Senior Luis arrived at the shelter when a Good Samaritan noticed he was injured and stepped in to help. Luis was covered in dried blood and partially healed wounds, with a fractured leg and a mouth full of painful teeth. Nevertheless, he had the sweetest disposition, and his visit notes from shelter volunteers were covered with hearts! The shelter's vet worked quickly to stabilize Luis and safely amputate his leg, then we got him into foster care to recover, get a senior panel, and have his bad teeth removed. With a new lease on life, Luis soon won over his fosters, and they decided to officially welcome him into the family.

Thank you for supporting our work to give each cat who crosses our path a way home!
