May 2022 Adoptions

We asked, and you answered! Thank you to everyone who helped us reach our monthly donor drive goal early — securing our entire $10,000 challenge match before May 31. Hitting our goal means we can focus on supporting the vulnerable cats who need us.

We had plenty of great adoptions in May, so let’s dive in to see just a few of the cats who you helped on their journeys home!

Gimlet was a growly guy at the shelter, lunging at volunteers due to stress and fear. This reaction to his cage — coupled with his feline leukemia, a serious affliction with an uncertain life expectancy — made him unadoptable in a shelter setting. However, our adopters have a long history of looking past that diagnosis to give these cats love with whatever time they have left. We got him into foster care where mere days later he showed off his super sweet personality. His fosters decided to adopt him after only two weeks!

Vin (top) and Charlize (bottom) came to us as scared older kittens way back in September, and made slow but steady progress learning to trust people. They had support in a foster home and from specialized volunteers at our Adoption Center before they really let their guards down. In their new home, they’re continuing to make progress, one day at a time, with the guidance of their incredibly patient adopters.

Angelica was first aged as 6 months due to her petite size and wary demeanor, so we took her in thinking she was a scared little kitten. We soon learned she was closer to 8 years old, and had some serious digestion issues! Time and love worked their magic, thanks to our intrepid volunteers — and one in particular, who became so smitten with this quirky girl that they decided to take her home themselves!

Shy Vesper became so stressed at the shelter that he was placed in bite quarantine. We hoped that a change in his environment would show us a totally different cat — and we were right! Young Vesper won himself a secret admirer, who came back repeatedly to visit him while he built up his confidence at Cat Town, and when he was ready, they happily adopted this sleek house panther.

Kitten season is in full swing, which means that we got our first litter of socialized little ones in May! Tang, Slurpee, Applejack, Sprite, and Jolt all found homes — in pairs or with young, playful feline role models to help them grow up into sweet, friendly cats. As the year continues, we’re sure to have more adorable litters stealing hearts and filling their new homes with love.
