March 2023 Adoptions

We celebrated 35 adoptions in March! Your support ensured that 7 sick or injured cats got the medical care they needed, so they can live comfortably for the rest of their days — whether they had arthritis, a missing paw, allergies, or ulcers. When their shelter stay became too overwhelming for them to handle, you made sure we could get 6 stressed cats into calm environments, so they could feel like themselves again. You helped 10 black cats get noticed, 4 senior cats learn to love again, and 10 cats in bonded pairs go home with their BFF.

We’re seeing more cats arriving at the shelter than usual, and receiving more requests to step in. Thanks to your support, we can do just that. Thank you for helping every cat who needs us, all year long!

In life, a good friend can really bring out your best! Willow and Hasani both arrived in our care after being trapped as strays by two separate rescues. Willow was a super shy girl from the start, so we brought her to our Adoption Center for some confident cat role modeling. Bold, playful Hasani had a case of ringworm, so we got him treatment in one of our foster homes, before moving him to our Adoption Center — where Willow instantly became smitten. This sweet girl had been cozied up in her safe spot for weeks, but one look at handsome Hasani and she decided to make her move, sticking close wherever he went. The two got adopted together, and rather than hide, Willow is already exploring everywhere Hasani goes, and even learning how to branch out on her own!

After life as a stray, 4-year-old Cal became overwhelmed at the city shelter. He didn’t know what to do with himself in a cage. He wanted attention and pets, but that affection easily became too much for him to process, and he would quickly change his mind, telling us to back off. Getting him into a comfy, quiet foster home resolved his conflicted feelings. He quickly showed off his sweet side, with his foster calling him, “a cuddly teddy bear in cat form.” He’s settling into his new home nicely.

When 10-year-old Pecan arrived at the shelter, she had terrible arthritis in her hips that caused her to limp when she walked. Despite this discomfort, she remained as sweet as pie. We got her into foster care and to the vet, then started her on a pain management regimen, which worked wonders! Her fosters got to witness her improvements firsthand, and fell in love hard. They told us, “She’s such a joy!” and asked to adopt her themselves. We couldn’t have asked for a better outcome!

Two-year-old Beetle arrived at the city shelter this past winter with a litter of kittens and a missing back paw. She was terrified, and hid behind her litter box nonstop. She even bit someone in fear when they tried to put her into a carrier. We got her X-rays and a nice calm foster home to help her feel safe. Soon after, she got adopted to a family with another Cat Town alum. The two are still getting to know one another, and their guardians are taking it nice and slow.

Sally and Charlie have always been shy around strangers. That was true the first time they found a home with us in 2019, and it’s true today. After their first adopter passed away last year, we took them back into our foster program to help them find another loving home. It took some time for these house panthers to find the right someone, but last month they hit the jackpot. They’re already starting to show a braver side — eating treats, allowing pets — and we know that with patience, they’ll be back to their sweet selves soon. We’re grateful that we can help cats like Sally and Charlie, no matter what life throws their way.
