March 2021 Adoptions

Every month, we celebrate the incredible victories your support helps accomplish with a round up of the previous month’s adoptions. In March, we celebrated cats from all kinds of backgrounds finding safety, comfort, and love. We can only help these cats because people like you believe that...

  • a scared cat can transform into a friend for life when they don’t feel fear

  • a senior cat can live a happy, fulfilled life with whatever time they have left

  • a cat’s treatable illness and injuries shouldn’t stop anyone from helping them

  • love, plus time, can be magic.

Thank you for sharing our stories, donating, and cheering with us when one of our cats gets adopted. You make this work so special for our staff and volunteers, and more importantly, your support changes lives for countless cats. Here are the cats and kittens you helped in March.

Buckaroo was brought to the city shelter as a “feral” cat by another rescue organization, but quickly proved to be affectionate when approached by shelter staff. He was just cage stressed, and responding to his environment with fear. Cat Town got this gorgeous tabby out of his shelter cage and into our Adoption Center, where he could let his real personality shine, and he was quickly adopted by someone who adored his sweetness (and appreciates his feisty side, too).

As soon as we moved him into our foster program, we discovered he’d do everything in his power to sit on his foster’s lap. This cuddly senior regained his youthful energy once his dental work was completed, and got adopted right away.

Shy Sophie was incredibly stressed and shut down in a shelter cage, so we moved her into foster care to help her fully decompress. Once she realized she was safe, her foster reported that she would climb into their lap and fall asleep to tummy rubs. This gray and white gal wasted no time in sweeping her adopter off her feet, and they are head over heels for her!

Sam was brought to the city shelter by his owner, with a request to euthanize him because he was too dangerous to live with. Shelter staff instead decided to give him lots of enrichment. At Cat Town, our staff created a behavior plan for him, and offered plenty of follow up guidance to his adopter. They recently told us, “I truly appreciate all of the support Cat Town has given me — it's been incredible. His foster mom referred to his behavior as spicy at times, so now I call him Pepper Jack Sam, and think it suits him.”

Young Mira came to Cat Town’s Adoption Center at 8 months so that she could gain confidence by observing some of our more outgoing role model cats. She started off scared, but liked gentle petting — and was soon adopted into a family with another young cat at home who could help Mira grow ever more confident. The two youngsters snuck past the baby gate separating them to play together, and never looked back.

A Good Samaritan found Perseus as a stray with wounds on his neck, which had become infected. Our friends at Oakland Animal Services treated his wounds, and we got him to Cat Town to help him recover. This black cat is FIV-positive, so we placed him in our Adoption Center, where adopters could see his sweet and gentle nature firsthand. He hopped into bed to snuggle his adopter on his very first night home.
