June 2022 Adoptions

Last month our adoptions included a half dozen bonded pairs, a handful of stressed cats, a smattering of Forgotten Kittens, and a generous sprinkle of urgent requests, just to get the summer started! Your support helped all of these cats get adopted into homes where they’ll be loved for the rest of their lives. Some of them needed a lot of support before they found their families, while others stayed with us for just a week before moving on to their next great chapter.

As we reflect on our June adoptions, we can’t help but look forward to the adoptions that await us in July. Kitten season is in full force, and the shelter is full to the brim. The more adoptions we have, the more lives we can save this summer — and that’s the goal!

Without further ado, here are some highlights for the cats you helped last month:

Meredith was used to being well-loved in her previous home, so the unfamiliar environment of the shelter had her flinching at every new sound and movement. Shelter volunteers helped her feel safe until we could get her to our Adoption Center, where she quickly charmed an experienced adopter.

Rhythm and Rhapsody came to us as older Forgotten Kittens, who spent weeks anxiously huddled together. Our volunteers are always up for a challenge, and with lots of treats and gentle voices, they eventually got through to these girls, who now live in a quiet home with patient adopters who’ll coax the best out of these loves.

We brought in kittens Chauncey and Phee to make space when the shelter reached max capacity, and to help them along with additional socialization. These siblings transformed from skittish to total marshmallows in less than a week, and got scooped up by a great family!

When 13-year-old Gillian was brought to the city shelter, she was mad — but quickly calmed down in foster care and revealed her sweet nature. With arthritis and gastrointestinal issues to manage, this old gal got just the help she needed to find the perfect match — and an adopter who was very excited to bring her home for good. It didn’t take long for them to let us know that Miss Gillian settled in wonderfully!

If you ask after Eggnog and Pliny, they’ll tell you to check back later — they’re busy healing the hearts of two sisters whose previous cats passed away. These energetic, silly boys will keep them great company, and will even have a senior dog to add to their list of friends. Not too bad for a pair of cats who started their lives on the streets — one of them with a fractured tooth!

Thank you for helping these cats — young and old, scared and brave, and everyone in between — find the support they needed to let themselves shine. Because of people like you who volunteer, foster, donate, and cheer us on, they all got the second chance they deserved.
