June 2021 Adoptions

Your support makes everything we do possible — in ways big and small. Every time we celebrate a victory for one of our cats, we know that it’s because we have you behind us.

Thank you for helping each of these cats get the best possible start on the rest of their lives. In June we found homes for cats with FIV, like Boomasaurus Rex, Frederick, Kirin, and Katsu. We found homes for senior cats like Julius, and for cats with medical needs like Ganon and Laney. We helped stressed cats like Cypress, and Forgotten Kittens like Dr. Leg and Elle Fury.

Because of your support, they’re thriving!

Sushi (right) and Boomasaurus Rex (left) arrived at Cat Town as strangers, but left as friends! Both were friendly with other cats, and their adopters quickly fell in love with each of them. Sushi was known to be a bit shy at first, so we wanted to make sure she had a confident cat friend at home.

Boomasaurus Rex proved to be just the right companion! This sweet cat was eager for affection right out of the gate. His adopters weren’t deterred by his FIV+ status (rightfully so!) and now these two opposites spend their days snuggling their adopters and grooming each other.

Cypress was stressed at the shelter, so we got him to Cat Town to help him feel safe. Although a big fan of tummy rubs, he only accepted pets from those with a slow and gentle approach — and sometimes he’d growl. We investigated and learned that he had a mouth full of painful teeth. Once we fixed up his mouth, Cypress stopped growling, and quickly got adopted into a home with a cat friend waiting for him. “After a few days he was so eager to meet my other cat Milo face-to-face that he barged through the door — I couldn't keep him apart!”

A shelter in Sacramento was filling up with animals, and we got an urgent call to help make space — Ganon was one of several cats we brought back to Oakland with us. This confident black and white cat got adopted almost immediately — and just as quickly made himself at home. His new name is Nacho.

Tugboat lived most of his life on the streets, but his caretakers knew he was special, and wanted to see him living the best life possible, so they brought him to the shelter to help him find a home. While Tugboat looks like a tough guy, he’s actually sweet, gentle, and quite shy in new surroundings. We gave him the time he needed to feel safe, and he blossomed into an affectionate boy, eager for love. His adopters tell us that “Tugboat is doing great, and has gotten comfortable interacting with everyone. He's currently curled up on the couch next to me, and he has been very vocal about getting attention. He seems like he's getting more settled in each day!”

Laney arrived into our care with a history of diarrhea and hair loss on her hindquarters, most likely due to stress-related overgrooming. At Cat Town, we got her straight into foster care to ensure she had as little stress as possible while we got her medical treatment. This shy gal warmed right up to her fosters, who helped us get her back into good shape and then couldn’t say goodbye — so they adopted her instead.

We’re so lucky to be able to help these cats. Thank you for supporting our work.
