Here are just a few of the success stories we celebrated in April, highlighting the bond of two cats who build their confidence and courage together:
In early July, Raja was spotted running up a neighborhood street, and was trapped safely beneath a porch. We tracked down his guardian, who surrendered this young cat to Cat Town. Cooper was a stray found on the street, and would hiss with caution before showing a sweet and playful side — he quickly warmed up with a caring foster guardian. Social Cooper bonded with wary, sensitive Raja in their own studio, and with a custom routine and patient support from staff and volunteers, they started to let their personalities shine; both boys became more confident as a duo. Behind his sensitive side, Raja had a big personality and athletic playstyle. Cooper was a lap cat who helped Raja burn off his playful energy and demonstrated that humans are trustworthy. We knew they needed a home that would suit their growth and personalities, and are grateful to the compassionate and cat-savvy family who adopted them, and tell us that they’re settling well into their new home.
Tommy and Bennett arrived separately as part of Cat Town’s Forgotten Kitten Project. Tommy was skittish and shy, and Bennett would growl and swat when scared, and bite when overstimulated. We knew both could be sweet and affectionate with the help of treats and volunteers who patiently spent time with them so they could learn to trust. When paired together, both became more comfortable with human presence and touch, and eventually began to seek affection themselves. We were thrilled to see them thrive together, and see them adopted after their long journey.
Blossom
Sugar Ray
Sometimes cats living outdoors want nothing to do with people, but other times, their caretakers notice they might be happier living inside, as part of a family. Sugar Ray was a stray trapped by a Good Samaritan who noticed that he had a large, infected wound on the side of his head. They also trapped Blossom from the same colony, and wanted to give this very fearful 6-month-old stray a chance at finding a home. The cats bonded together before arriving at Cat Town, and in their own studio, they transformed from cautious and shy to eager to receive pets and purring. Their new family tells us that they are adjusting well together and happily exploring their new home.
